Had a full day to myself today as my better half is away. Didn't get as much done as I hoped - but made some good progress...
Got the tac marines and termies from Dark Vengeance (well, the ones I have with me - the rest will have to wait) converted from Dark Angels to the Emperors own praetorians - Imperial Fists
Various degrees of customisation - used the GW Fist shoulder pads, and cut off the obvious ridiculous angel wings from the captain helmets. Replaced a couple of swords with hammers too (seemed a bit more 'fist of dorn'y). Used a Grey Knight termie helm for the captain - as these 2 forces will probably be fighting alongside each other - thought there could be a back story where a grey knight gave his helm to the captain in the past... and makes it look a bit different!
So base sprayed them with Army Painter daemonic yellow, and then tried out my airbrush again with another coat of GW Yriel Yellow (which I'd normally do with a brush - but thought I'd give the airbrush a try). Worked pretty well - better than last time - I got some acrylic thinner which helped the flow a lot better. Still lots to learn about airbrushing - but I'm encouraged to keep at it!..
Also sprayed the fruit boxes/mining complex. Started doing them in black - but it didn't cover well - must have been nearly empty as it soon ran out. Had a tin or army painter white form an old Gumtree buy - so thought I'd give it a try with a view to spraying black later. But actually - doesn't look too bad - kind of a snowy/ice world effect. Would like to do it properly - but think I'm going to run out of time - but this is workable I think!
